How To Make your own Wine At Home From Grapes - Easy Instructions For Making Wine From Fruit, Grape, Apple, Strawberry, Pineapple, Elderberry,
Making wine from home is better than buying a bottle of expensive wine from the shelves. This is more so if you hone the skill, patience and finesse to make good wine. It will definitely take you a few tries but with each trial you will improve your wine making skills. After all good wine is not that hard to make as many people believe. Step by step, you will improve your wine making knowledge and change from good wine to making excellent wine right at your home. Let’s look at some general steps to making world class homemade wine.
Make your own Wine: Step # 1
I would recommend you to start from a comfortable level and with fruits that are easier to manage like pineapple, apple or even oranges. They will all make great wine depending on how keenly you monitor the process. Let’s leave mixing of different fruits for the next try and concentrate on using these simple fruits for making wine. You will need to add some yeast and yeast if you choose a flower or fruit based wine; grapes are preferred since they contain all the ingredients for a fine wine.
Make your own Wine: Step # 2
Making grape or apple wine will require you to mash the fruits and leave them to ferment. You will then strain the grape mash away and you are left with the thick syrup. Other fruits require addition of yeast to the mashed pulp to start off the fermentation process. It is advisable to use wine yeast rather than the baking yeast as this tends to produce a very thick tasking wine.
Make your own Wine: Step # 3
Pour in 10 gallons of water and mix with the crushed fruit or flower wine ingredient. You can now add a gallon of hot water and add sugar or honey according to your instructions. Stir the mixture well with a plastic spoon. It is safe to add sodium or potassium bisulphite to sterilize the mixture. The bisulphite compound is retailed as campden tablets in your nearest store and it stops the growth of bacteria and mold which can be harmful.
Make your own Wine: Step # 4
This mixture is now known as the must and it needs to cool for atleast 24 hours. This is the point when you should add the yeast. Yeast should always be added after the campden tablets have cleared to avoid the yeast bacteria from being destroyed. You can now cover the must with a cheese cloth and allowed to ferment for a further 10-15 days. Remember to stir the mixture every day to ensure that the yeast bacterium acts on all the sugar or honey in the must.
Make your own Wine: Step # 5
After the 10 -15 day wait period, you can now strain the must and remove the flower or fruit pulp. Pour the solution in a glass jar and close it up with a fermentation lock. This is a special lock that allows the carbon dioxide produced through fermentation to escape while keeping oxygen away. Oxygen inhibits fermentation and that is the purpose of the lock. This is an important step and you should as much as possible avoid oxygen infiltration into the solution so as to get the best results.
Make your own Wine: Step # 6
You can now keep your jug with the liquid in a warm environment for about 6 weeks. This allows further fermentation and is called the secondary wine fermentation process. Observe the liquid until the bubbles have stopped being produced which shows that the sugars have been all used up and the yeast bacteria dead. You can now decant the wine from the jug using a plastic pipe into a wine aging glass vessel. You can then let the wine sit in the glass aging vessel for a while until it clears and then siphon it into proper wine bottles. Be careful to leave all the sediments in the aging glass vessel before transfer to the wine bottles.
Make your own Wine: Step # 7
You can now cork the wine bottles and put them in a wine rack in your basement or a cool place without direct sunlight. You can keep the wine there for a month or a year or more depending on the type of wine you are making at home. The older the wine the better it gets, so take your pick. Keep experimenting on different recipes, making small tweaks to this general process of making wine at home and you will be amazed at the taste and smell of the wine you can make right from your house.

Italian Wine $108.33 Italian wine is wine produced in Italy, a country which is home to some of the oldest wineproducing regions in the world. Etruscans and Greek settlers produced wine in the country long before the Romans started developing their own vineyards in the 2nd century BC. Roman grapegrowing and winemaking was prolific and wellorganized, pioneering largescale production and storage techniques like barrelmaking and bottling. Two thousand years later, Italy remains one of the worlds foremost producers, responsible for approximately onefifth of world wine production in 2005. Wine is a popular drink in Italy. Grapes are grown in almost every part of Italy, with more than 1 million vineyards under cultivation. In some places the vines are trained along low supports. In others they climb as slender saplings. Most winemaking in Italy is done in modern wineries. However, villagers who make wine for their own use sometimes still tread the grapes with their bare feet, until the juice is squeezed out. They believe this ancient method still makes the best wine. Yield (Wine) $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In viticulture, the yield is a measure of the amount of grapes or wine that is produced per unit surface of vineyard, and is therefore a type of crop yield. Two different types of yield measures are commonly used, mass of grapes per vineyard surface, or volume of wine per vineyard surface. The yield is often seen as a quality factor, with lower yields associated with wines with more concentrated flavours, and the maximum allowed yield is therefore regulated for many wine appellations. In most of Europe, yield is measured in hectoliter per hectare, i.e., by the volume of wine. In most of the New World, yield is measured in ton per acres, i.e., by mass of grapes. Measures in ton or kilogram per hectare are also seen. Due to differing winemaking procedures for different styles of wine, and different properties of different grape varieties, the amount of wine produced from a unit mass of grapes varies. It is therefore not possible to make an exact conversion between these units. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 120 Publication Date: 2010/08/25 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.28 inches |
