HOW TO MAKE WINE AT HOME
Making wine at home is one interesting and enjoyable hobby. Some people believe that wines can only be purchased from stores or wineries, however for people who would want to test how to make wine at home here are some interesting steps and ideas. They are simple and cheaper to consider you are making wine at home and would want to save.
Know Your Basic Ingredients and Materials Needed:
- 3 cans of frozen grape juice concentrate
- ½ cup sugar
- galloon container
- balloons
- water (clean and healthy)
- pin
- yeast
- measuring cup
- rubber band
Yeast is very important for it is the basic ingredient that turns grape juice into wine.
STEP I.
Pour the concentrate into the galloon container and mix it with water ( 2 cans water to 1can concentrate) then close the container properly and shake it well to give the water and juice a good mixture.
STEP 2
Add sugar to your mixture and shake it vigorously with the container cap on. Be sure that no sugar are left to settle at the bottom.
STEP 3
Hydrate the yeast. Follow closely and strictly the packet instruction. Wait till it foams up. Pour it to the juice and once again vigorously shake with the container cap on.
STEP 4
Now you are to make use of the balloon. Pin at least 10 very tiny holes on it and place it around the container opening seal it well using the rubber band. Now disregard the cap. Its time for fermentation to take place . Bubbling will occur showing that the yeast is doing its work of turning sugar into alcohol. As the balloon inflates fermentation is taking place. When the balloon deflates its time for you to put back the container lid and you may refrigerate it. Wait for a month or two before drinking it.
You will now taste your fine homemade wine . Very rewarding since you made it yourself!

In her debut narrative, "Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair," blogger extraordinaire Laurie Perry gave people a hilarious yet heartfelt glimpse into her misadventures as a recent divorcee with three cats, a slight wine and Cheetos problem, and scores of unfinished-and-uneven knitting projects. Now, in her second installment, she's done drunk-dialing her ex, and has moved on to make the best out of the "extra odd bits"-both in her knitting projects and in her life, from getting her house in order, or "procrasti-cleaning," to curbing expenses, from "green guilt" and pre-date nausea, to winning the battle of the bulge (think Spanx ). Italian Wine $108.33 Italian wine is wine produced in Italy, a country which is home to some of the oldest wineproducing regions in the world. Etruscans and Greek settlers produced wine in the country long before the Romans started developing their own vineyards in the 2nd century BC. Roman grapegrowing and winemaking was prolific and wellorganized, pioneering largescale production and storage techniques like barrelmaking and bottling. Two thousand years later, Italy remains one of the worlds foremost producers, responsible for approximately onefifth of world wine production in 2005. Wine is a popular drink in Italy. Grapes are grown in almost every part of Italy, with more than 1 million vineyards under cultivation. In some places the vines are trained along low supports. In others they climb as slender saplings. Most winemaking in Italy is done in modern wineries. However, villagers who make wine for their own use sometimes still tread the grapes with their bare feet, until the juice is squeezed out. They believe this ancient method still makes the best wine. Grapes into Wine $13.99 As the first to write a basic book in English on winemaking from the winemaker’s point of view, Philip Wagner has long been considered an authority on the subject, and his book American Wines and Wine-Making has become a bible for small producers and home winemakers in this country. Now, in this completely new version of that classic, Mr. Wagner takes into account the many dramatic changes that in recent years have revolutionized the American wine scene.   With the knowledge that comes from his own experimentation, Mr. Wagner discusses the new, successful hybrids that have now made it possible to grow wine-producing grapes in far more areas of the United States than used to be considered feasible. Once again he covers all the basic technical information, including recent developments important to the small commercial winery and to the home producer—from the choice of the right vines to the vintage itself, the care of the new wines, and finally the bottling of the wine: red, white, and rosé, sparkling and sweet.   There is a new chapter on concentrates for the growing number of people who want to make wine but are not close to a source for suitable grapes, or haven’t the space to work with fresh materials. Mr. Wagner describes what concentrates are, how they are made, what the characteristics are of different types, and what to expect. There are specific instructions on procedure and on the necessary (and unnecessary) equipment.   In addition, Philip Wagner’s introductory chapters on the evolution of the wine grape, on European winegrowing, and on the contemporary scene throughout the United States provide an excellent guide for the consumer, as does his concluding chapter on tasting and using wine. Peppered throughout with a wealth of historical and anecdotal material as well as down-to-earth experience—and full of the author’s appreciation of wine and winemaking as a way of life—this book is not only a useful guide but delightful and rewarding reading. |
